Huge fire breaks out at Essex pub
It took crews over five hours to put out the blaze
Last night, at 9:30pm, fire crews were called to the blaze in a roof space of a pub in Harlow.
On arrival firefighters reported the fire was impacting the first floor and around 30% of the roof was alight and, due to the size of the building, requested support of more crews and Chelmsford's aerial ladder platform.
At 10.15pm the incident commander reported that firefighters were tackling the fire in sections.
At 11.15pm the incident commander reported that firefighters were removing parts of the roof in sections to allow them to tackle the remaining fire and cool down the affected roof space.
At 3am (27 December) the incident commander confirmed the fire was completely out and the building was cool.
Fire officers will revisit the site to carry out a fire investigation when it is safe to do so.
