Fire breaks out at HMP Chelmsford
The East of England Ambulance Service also attended the scene after receiving reports of the incident
Emergency services have responded to a fire at HMP Chelmsford.
An Essex County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson confirmed: “Firefighters were called to a fire in a prison in Chelmsford at 1:46pm yesterday (9 November).
"Crews extinguished the fire by 2:07pm.”
The East of England Ambulance Service also attended the scene after receiving reports of the incident.
A spokesperson said: “We were called just before 1.50pm on Sunday 9 November to reports of a fire at HMP Chelmsford.
"An ambulance, an ambulance officer vehicle and two vehicles from the Hazardous Area Response Team were sent to the scene. We were stood down shortly after arriving on scene as our services were not required.”
No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
