Four charged after shopping centre disturbance in Harlow

Group arrested following alleged attacks on officers at The Water Gardens

Four individuals have been charged after a disturbance at The Water Gardens shopping centre in Harlow over the weekend.

Police responded to reports at around 2.50pm on Sunday (17 May), where a group was allegedly aggressive and verbally abusive towards security staff at the Asda location.

During the intervention, two officers and one Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) reported they had been assaulted.

Three women and a man were subsequently arrested.

Rosie Smith-Galer, a 24-year-old from Torrington Gardens, Loughton, faces two charges of assaulting an officer.

Keedie Drew, 21, from Roydon Marina, Roydon, has been charged with one count of assaulting an officer.

Both are scheduled to appear in Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on 24th June.

Leah Smith-Galer, 24, also from Torrington Gardens, Loughton, has been charged with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

Barnaby Stewart, 41, from Woodcroft Harlow, faces charges of using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm, or distress, in addition to assaulting an emergency worker.

They are both due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on 1st July.
