Hadleigh GP surgery set to re-open following months of closure
The Hollies GP Surgery will also go by a new name
The Hollies GP Surgery in Hadleigh is set to re-open after it was closed last November.
Following months of complex legal discussions, NHS Essex has announced it will be available for use from the 3rd August.
The building was closed last year following action from the CQC.
The re-opening of the surgery was delayed due to legal issues relating to the premises.
The practice will now operate under a new name, as the Rectory Road Surgery.
Patients do not need to re-register and will remain registered with the practice as normal.
Rosemary Morgan, Chairperson of the Patient Participation Group said: “We are delighted that the staff and patients will soon be back in the premises. I would like to thank patients and the staff for their positivity and understanding during the period of uncertainty. The name change to Rectory Road Surgery ensures the surgery’s unique identity as an integral part of the Hadleigh Community remained the same.”
Tom Abell, Chief Executive Officer at NHS Essex, said: “I am very pleased to confirm that the building will finally reopen. I would like to apologise to patients for the disruption they have experienced at the Hollies and I thank them and the wider community for their patience and understanding during what has been a challenging period.”
Dame Rebecca Harris, MP for Castle Point, said:
“I’m very pleased that this has finally been resolved, after months of uncertainty for residents. I have supported the action taken to resolve the legal issues, and I would like to thank the care taking GP practice for stepping in to see patients, and I think everyone will be glad to finally be allowed back in the building.”
Cllr Warren Gibson, Deputy Leader of Castle Point Borough Councillor, said:
“I am very pleased that the Hollies building is finally re-opening to the public. This has been an extraordinary situation which has been disruptive and, at times, confusing for the patients who value this important local facility. I hope that the new practice supports them in this next period of adjustment and that the return of on-site provision will continue to thrive under new management.”
