An investigation is underway at Mid and South Essex NHS following the death of a patient.
The trust's Chief Medical Officer says they’re looking into the care Thomas Casey received.
Christine Blanshard, Chief Medical Officer at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, said: "Our condolences go out to the patient’s family. We are investigating the care he received and are in close contact with the family to discuss their concerns.”
It follows reports that Thomas was given painkillers and told to wait in a crowded A&E waiting room - Marie Goldman, the MP for Chelmsford, says she is seeking answers and has contacted the Chief Executive, Dawn Scrafield.
In a Facebook post, she wrote: "Concerns have been raised with me regarding an incident at Broomfield Hospital over the weekend."
"My thoughts are with the family at this difficult time."
"As part of my ongoing conversations with the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, I will be seeking answers. I have written to the Chief Executive requesting an urgent meeting."
