Colchester man charged with 12 rape offences
62-year-old Duncan Edwards has been charged with 26 offences in total.

A man from Colchester has been charged with 26 offences, including 12 for rape.
When investigating a separate assault in Colchester in 2014, Police received several reports of offences which took place over during the last 40 years.
In November 2024, a man was arrested in connection with these offences. He was questioned by officers and then released on bail while they continued their enquiries.
Now Duncan Edwards, 62, of Swan Grove in Chappel, Colchester, has been charged with:
- 12 counts of rape
- Six counts of causing actual bodily harmThree counts of causing a female over age of 13 to engage in penetrative sexual activity
- One count of procuring sex by threat or intimidation
- One count of voyeurism
- One count of kidnap
- One count of being concerned in the supply of cocaine
- One count of being concerned in the supply of heroin
Edwards was remanded in custody and will appear before Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court today.
Detective Inspector Lydia George, senior investigating officer in the case said:
