Colchester man charged after police officer hit by e-bike
The 19 year old faces several charges including causing bodily harm by wanton or furious driving
A man has been charged with a series of offences after an Essex Police officer was hit by an E-bike.
The incident happened on North Hill shortly before 5.20pm on Wednesday 26 March.
The officer, who was on foot at the time, was not seriously injured but was taken to hospital to be assessed for injuries to his head and back.
The rider of the e-bike left the scene.
19 year old Mohammed Hamad of Harwich Road, Colchester, has been charged with assault by beating of an emergency worker, causing bodily harm by wanton or furious driving, riding a pedal cycle on a road and failing to stop when directed by a uniformed officer, riding a pedal cycle on a road and failing to comply with the indication given by a traffic sign and possession of a Class C controlled drug.
He has been released on bail to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on 7 May.
