Essex Police officer dismissed after misconduct hearing
Former PC Annabelle Shaker removed for gross misconduct
An Essex Police officer has been dismissed for gross misconduct following an accelerated hearing led by Chief Constable Ben-Julian Harrington.
On 22nd June, the hearing concluded that former PC Annabelle Shaker violated multiple standards of professional behaviour, including integrity, respect, and courtesy.
Shaker's conduct involved failing to follow lawful management instructions, missing meetings, and displaying rude and abusive behaviour towards her colleagues.
In one noted incident, she threw a body-worn camera towards a colleague.
These actions breached several areas of professional standards, leading to her dismissal.
Chief Constable Harrington emphasised:
“Police officers are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and conduct. The behaviour identified in this case fell far below those standards and was wholly unacceptable. The public rightly expects officers to act with respect, follow lawful instructions, and maintain professionalism in all interactions – whether with the public or colleagues. We will not tolerate misconduct of this nature and will take fair but decisive action to hold individuals accountable when they let the force and the public down.”
