The big day is now only one day away and new research shows we are a nation of last-minute buyers!

New research shows three in ten Brits panic-buy presents this Christmas Eve.

Gemma Bird is a working Mum of two from Essex, who's got herself out of debt.

She's been telling Greatest Hits Radio how important it is "to talk about money this Christmas."

"If you're short of cash it's nothing to be ashamed of, what's important is having open and honest conversations with your loved ones."

"Don't buy a turkey, get a chicken instead - simple switches are the way forward."

Research by OpinionMatters pinpoints the most stressful parts of Christmas shopping, with knowing what presents to buy (37%), crowds (30%) and budget concerns (30%) all bugging Brits in the run up to Christmas.

1 in 4 Brits admit leaving Christmas shopping till the last minute.

However more than one-third start their shopping in November (35%).

Sometimes, knowing what presents to buy for loved ones is the biggest conundrum when it comes to Christmas shopping. In fact, 3 in 10 (30%) UK adults have forgotten to buy someone a Christmas present in the past, adding to the last-minute panic around Christmas shopping.

"It's having that budget and knowing what you're spending" says Gemma.
