Essex man banned from every BP garage in the UK after admitting 12 shop thefts
He appeared in court just 15 hours after being arrested
A man from Essex has been banned from entering any BP garage in the UK after admitting a string of shop thefts.
Mehrshad Restegar, 40, of Elderton Road, Westcliff, appeared before magistrates in Southend just 15 hours after being arrested.
He was detained at his home by a Southend local policing officer shortly after midnight yesterday (Monday).
Restegar admitted 12 counts of shop theft, each involving amounts of less than £200.
The thefts took place at two BP garages – in West Street, Southend, and London Road, Westcliff – between 21st January and 16th August 2026.
The offences totalled £888.31.
Magistrates bailed him ahead of a sentencing hearing on 18th December.
As a condition of his bail, he must not enter any BP garage in the UK.
