A trial date has been set for Essex cricketer Robin Das, who is charged with two counts of rape.

The 24-year-old, of Leytonstone, east London, is accused of raping a woman twice in Brixton, south London, in March 2024.

Das appeared in the dock at Inner London Crown Court on Friday, wearing a navy suit, white shirt and dark tie.

He spoke only to confirm his identity and that he understood when he was next required to attend court.

A five-day trial was set for January 10, 2028.

Judge Freya Newbery said of the trial date: “I’m afraid we are all just really under the cosh at the moment.

“We are overwhelmed with new cases and we can’t fit our custody cases within the time limits.”

Das was freed on conditional bail.
