Fourth man charged with people smuggling in Essex
57-year-old Albanian national faces charges related to illegal immigration
A fourth person has been charged with facilitating illegal immigration following an incident in Holland-on-Sea near Clacton last week.
Illia Prendi, a 57-year-old Albanian national with no fixed address, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court yesterday (6 July)
He is accused of involvement in an operation that saw several individuals detained for immigration offences. A number of people were allegedly seen being dropped off at the shoreline.
Prendi has been remanded in custody and is scheduled for another court appearance at Chelmsford Crown Court on 3rd August.
This follows the charges against three other men, Konrad Dabrowski, Damian Ciuron, and Christian Albano, who have also been remanded and are set to make court appearances later this month and on 3rd August.
The arrests stem from an investigation conducted by the National Crime Agency alongside Essex Police and HM Coastguard, which identified a vessel dropping off individuals on the Essex shoreline.
Six people aboard the vessel, identified as Albanian nationals, were detained for immigration offences and will be processed by Immigration Enforcement.
