A dispersal order has been in place across parts of Southend overnight.

Police can order anyone causing trouble to leave, and those who refuse could be arrested.

The order runs until 6.39pm this evening.

Police say the key locations within the dispersal order include but are not limited to:

High Street

Marine Parade

York Road

Queensway

London Road

Victoria Avenue

Warrior Square

Chichester Road

Southchurch Road

Alexandra Street

Queens Road

Southend Victoria Train Station

Southend Central Train Station

Victoria Shopping Centre

Royals Shopping Centre

Inspector Christopher Simpson said: “The order means we can quickly deal with anyone who’s not behaving. Southend is a family resort, and large groups can be loud and disruptive. We won’t allow a tiny minority to spoil the atmosphere for everyone else who wants to enjoy the city.”
