Crews tackle large field fire in village near Chelmsford

Fire crews are dealing with a large field fire in a village near Chelmsford.

Essex Fire and Rescue Service said ten crews were sent to Crows Lane in Woodham Ferrers after they were called at 3.18pm (29 July).

The service said the fire is affecting about 40 acres of crops and firefighters are working with the farmer to create fire breaks.

Anyone living or travelling nearby is urged to stay away from the area.
