Cannabis plants worth £500k found in Cold Norton

A man has been charged following the discovery of cannabis plants valued at £500,000 in Cold Norton.
Nang Phung, 27, faced Chelmsford magistrates on 20th June, accused of producing the cannabis plants.
He is currently remanded in custody and will appear at Chelmsford Crown Court for a subsequent hearing on 20th July.
The operation was carried out by officers from Maldon and Chelmsford neighbourhood policing teams.
A warrant was executed at an industrial unit located off Latchingdon Road in Cold Norton on 19th June.
Inside, approximately 680 cannabis plants in various stages of growth were discovered and subsequently confiscated.
Sergeant Matt Dalby highlighted the risks tied to large-scale cannabis operations, stating:
“Large cannabis grows are far from harmless and are often associated with exploitation of vulnerable people.
“We will continue to target those involved in drug activity across the Maldon District and community intelligence plays a vital part in tackling this and other serious crime.
“So, I urge anyone with concerns to report them, your information makes a real difference."
