Person hit by train causes delays between Colchester and Chelmsford

Train services between Colchester and Chelmsford, and Marks Tey and Sudbury faced disruption this morning (12th January) after a person was hit by a train near Witham.

Emergency services were at the scene, and disruption lasted until around 1pm.

Greater Anglia has confirmed that trains on these routes may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes, or revised. Replacement buses are running between Colchester and Witham, with journey times estimated at 30 to 40 minutes.

All lines have now reopened.
