Colchester man appears in court charged with stalking
The 37 year-old has been remanded into custody
Charges have been authorised against a man, after an investigation by officers from Essex Police at the weekend.
On Friday December 27, patrolling officers in the city spotted a man wanted in connection with an ongoing investigation.
Collaborative work between detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department and the North Domestic Abuse Problem Solving Team secured an arrest.
Detective Chief Inspector, Nathan Hutchinson, said: “This weekend dedicated work by local policing teams in the north of the county has secured charges in connection with this investigation. We take reports of stalking extremely seriously and urge anyone with information or concerns to come forward.
“We have officers proactively patrolling and working behind the scenes, day in and day out, in Colchester and across Essex to keep people safe and fully investigate reports made to us.”
Olaniyi Adebanwo, 37, of Alefounder Close, Colchester, has been charged with stalking and breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
He appeared before Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Saturday 28 December. He was remanded into custody and will appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on Friday 24 January 2025.
