Three knives and offensive weapon found after vehicle stopped in Greenstead investigation

A man has been convicted after armed officers carried out an enforced vehicle stop in Colchester in connection with a reported weapons exchange.
The incident occurred shortly after 2pm on Wednesday 24 September, when police received reports of a weapons-related incident in the Greenstead area of the city.
Armed officers swiftly identified a vehicle of interest and conducted a safe stop on Bromley Road. A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.
A search of the car uncovered three knives and a cosh-style weapon. Further checks revealed the man was disqualified from driving and had no valid insurance.
Christopher Clyne, 35, of no fixed address, was charged with two counts of possession of a knife in a public place, driving without insurance and driving while disqualified
He appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 25 September, where he admitted all offences. Clyne was released on conditional bail and is due to be sentenced at the same court on 23 October.
