Police launch public appeal after teenage girl sexually assaulted onboard Colchester bus

Police in Colchester are urgently appealing to the public for help in identifying a man they wish to speak with in connection to a serious sexual assault reported on a local bus.

On 15 July 2025 the suspect reportedly rubbed his genitals on the victim, a teenage girl, before she moved away.

According to reports, both the victim and the suspect boarded the bus from Osbourne Street bus station at 7:55am, travelling towards Shrub End. During the journey.

A police spokesperson said, "We have carried out an exhaustive investigation and are now appealing for the public’s support to identify a man we want to speak in connection with the offence."

The suspect is described as approximately 6ft 1in tall, with dark hair and a moustache. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly wearing a red t-shirt, jeans and brown shoes, and carrying a backpack.
