Young mum from Clacton sentenced after baby died in crash

A woman from Clacton has been sentenced to two years in prison at Chelmsford Crown Court, suspended for two years, after being found guilty of manslaughter following a car crash in Clacton-on-Sea where her baby died.

Morgan Kiely, 22, of Ryde Avenue was convicted after the seven-month-old baby, Harry Kiely was thrown from the car during the crash on 13 July 2022 when the car overturned.

He was not properly secured in his car seat.

Her co-defendant, the driver of the vehicle, Stevie Steel, 23, from Kent has pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving while over the legal alcohol limit and will be sentenced at a later date.
