Essex Police have been carrying out reassurance patrols in Chelmsford following reports of a disturbance involving a large group of people over the weekend.

The incident happened at around 9:30pm on Saturday (16 May) in the Sawkins Avenue area.

Upon arrival, officers conducted a search of the area and employed a drone to assist, but those involved had dispersed.

The police presence remained for around an hour as enquiries about groups possibly heading to the city centre were made.

Officers found no evidence of injuries or any parties involved once they arrived.

To reassure the community and gather information, officers continue to be visibly active in the neighbourhood.

Authorities urge anyone with information, or footage from CCTV, dash cam, or other devices, to come forward.
