Chelmsford man charged with rape and false Imprisonment
He was arrested for a string of offences
A Chelmsford man is facing a string of serious charges following his arrest earlier this week.
Greg Atkins, 48, of Epping Close, was arrested on Tuesday, 27 May, on suspicion of multiple offences including false imprisonment, coercive control, and assault. After further investigation, Essex Police confirmed that Atkins has now been charged with ten separate offences:
Rape
False imprisonment
Intentional suffocation
Controlling and coercive behaviour
Intentional strangulation
Actual bodily harm (ABH)
Assault by beating
Making threats to kill
Criminal damage
Possession of a firearm without a certificate
Atkins appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 29 May, where he was remanded in custody. He is scheduled to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on 26 June.
