Officers responding to reports of men on the roof of a property in Hadleigh have discovered a large cannabis grow.

Patrols attended a house on Castle Lane, at around 1.50am on Wednesday 2 April.

Following reports that one of the men was believed to be in possession of a firearm, specialist Armed Response Vehicle (ARV) officers attended, as part of a 'proportionate response'.

Police carried out an extensive search of the area, but the men weren’t found.

Chief inspector Paul Hogben, District Commander for Castle Point and Rochford, said: “I appreciate that this incident will be of concern to the local residents but we will continue with our enquiries to do everything we can to identify the three men involved in this incident.

Inside the property, officers discovered cannabis plants which were probably destined for sale.

We also found a machete and a BB gun and have made safe and seized both items so they cannot be used by anyone intent on criminal activities.

I’d ask anyone who may have information about the incident or know who the men are, to contact us.”

The cannabis plants have been removed from the property.
