Cannabis farm uncovered by police inside a former Clacton bank
A man has been arrested and taken into custody for questioning
Authorities in Clacton have uncovered a significant cannabis operation within the old Barclays bank on Station Road.
Officers from the Clacton Neighbourhood Policing Team and Operational Support Group conducted the raid early in the morning on Wednesday 20th May, revealing ten rooms converted for drug cultivation.
The makeshift rooms were equipped with ventilation systems and exposed electrical wiring, designed for the extensive grow operation.
A 22-year-old man hiding in the building’s loft was arrested and taken into custody for questioning.
Police seized 960 cannabis plants from the site, all of which will be destroyed.
PC Alan Williams of Clacton Neighbourhood Policing Team led the operation, stating, “This was clearly a professional operation. The drugs harvested from this grow would have found their way onto the streets and the profits would have helped fund more criminal activity.”
PC Williams encourages the public to report suspicious activities, noting that unusual building comings and goings, odd smells, or blacked-out windows could indicate illicit operations.
