A breast surgeon from Broomfield Hospital will be revealing what her life and work is like in a new national television documentary.
Cameras followed Sascha Dua, Consultant Breast Surgeon, as her team performed critical surgery for two patients with breast cancer.
She will be featured in the second episode of Channel 5's The Surgeon.
She said: “This was an amazing opportunity to showcase the brilliant work we do in the Breast unit at Broomfield Hospital. It was also a bit odd being followed for three months by cameras, but I hope it conveys how complex breast surgery is.
“It demonstrates how many people work to support our patients, especially in the dark days after a cancer diagnosis. I am hugely grateful to all who came on this filming journey with me and that we were able to show our compassionate and excellent care to the public.”
Julie Smith, Managing Director of Broomfield Hospital, said: “It’s great that everyone else across the country will get to see some of the fantastic work our amazing staff do and the positive impact it has on patients.
“Programmes like this shine a spotlight on some of the amazing things we do in the NHS, which are truly inspiring. Perhaps someone watching it may then be inspired to become a surgeon when they are older or come and work for the Breast unit and help change lives, just like Sascha.”
