A woman from the Brentwood area is required to attend a responsible dog ownership course after her dogs attacked livestock on two occasions in Navestock and Pilgrims Hatch.

The 79-year-old received a conditional caution from specialist rural engagement officers following the September 2025 attacks.

Her dogs must now be muzzled in public and walked on a fixed lead.

Sergeant Callum Barber, part of the Rural Engagement Team, emphasized the importance of conditional cautions to prevent future incidents, saying they help offenders understand the impact of their actions.

On 7th September 2025, two rams were injured by her dogs in Navestock.

Days later, on 16th September, a goat was killed and three more were injured in Pilgrims Hatch.

Conditions of the caution include securing fencing at the dogs' home, keeping the dogs in a secure compound when unattended, muzzling and fixed lead length restrictions in public, and ensuring no one under 16 walks the dogs.

Failure to comply with the caution terms may lead to prosecution for the initial offence.
