Work by detectives in Braintree has seen two drug dealers jailed for a total six and-a-half years.

A third man was given a suspended sentence.

A car being driven by Rahman was stopped by officers wanting to carry out a drug search. At a later date, a car driven by Radley was stopped by officers who had spotted it speeding.

In both instances a quantity of cocaine was found in their cars and they were arrested.

Rahman was stopped by officers, a quantity of cash was found inside the vehicle and number of drug wraps found concealed within his clothing and Radley was stopped by police whilst driving at speed, officers stopped him and on searching the vehicle found a quantity of cash and drugs.

Then in October of the same year offices were called to unrelated matter at flats in Great Leighs where the door to an address opened, Rahman walked out, and the attending officer could smell cannabis.

When the officer went inside they saw a large amount of white powder and a set of scales. Rahman was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

A short time later, Radley was seen entered the same address and, because of what was found earlier in the day, was also arrested.

On both occasions the men were arrested.

In December of 2020, Mitchell Quartermine was arrested by an officer on mobile patrol who spotted the car he was in, pulled it over, and carried out a drug search.

More than £1,000 in cash was recovered as well as a mobile phone on which messages suggesting he was involved in the sale of drugs were found.

All three were charged with drugs offences.

Rahman, 28, of Lodge Road, West Bromich pleaded not guilty but was convicted on 14 March this year at Chelmsford Crown Court of being concerned in the supply of cocaine, and two counts of possession with intent to supply cocaine.

Radley, 39, of Beadle Way, Great Leighs, admitted two counts being concerned in the supply of cocaine, possession with intent to supply cocaine, and possession of a Class B drug.

Quartermaine, 32, of Thackery Close, Braintree admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine.

At Chelmsford Crown Court on 8 August Rahman was jailed for four years and two months and Radley for two years and four months.

Quartermaine was given a 22 month sentence suspended for two years.

Detective Sergeant Luke Howard, of Braintree CID, said: “Drugs are scourge of our society.

“They are a poison that ruins lives and destroys communities and their sale is something we cannot and do not tolerate.

“This case highlights our indefatigable determination to bring those responsible for justice.”
