Charges brought against Basildon man for historic child sexual offences

Matthew Rivett, 47, previously of Stokefelde, Pitsea, has been charged with several child sexual offences alleged to have occurred in Basildon between 2003 and 2006.

Rivett faces three counts of indecent assault, three counts of assault by touching, one count of inciting a child to commit an act of gross indecency, and one count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

These charges follow investigations conducted by specialist detectives focused on child sexual abuse.

Rivett is scheduled to appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on 10th December.

Police urge anyone with information relevant to this investigation to come forward.
