Police have arrested three men after a pursuit near Wickford.

A red Ford Fiesta eventually stopped on the A127 shortly after 2pm on Friday (12 December).

The occupants were suspected of being involved in burglaries, where cars had been stolen in the London area.

Officers tracked down three men - who ran from the vehicle and attempted to hide.

The 18, 22 and 30-year-olds were arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft of motor vehicle, driving offences and drug possession offences.

Superintendent Ian Hughes from Essex Police said: “It’s never a good idea to try to hide from our highly trained police dogs and their handlers.

“Thankfully all three men were safely arrested – despite their efforts.”
