"After ten games of the season our fans will see a true reflection of how we are trying to play" - Boss Kieron Dyer ahead of first home game
The match against Scunthorpe is Dyer's first competitive home match at Roots Hall in charge of the Shrimpers
Southend United manager Kieron Dyer has told the fans that after ten games they will be able to see a "true reflection of how we're trying to play."
He said he is "relishing" the challenge of playing Scunthorpe United, and called the side a "different beast".
Yet, he is confident of the Shrimpers getting a win, as he said: "We think we owe them one.
"They're very very dangerous, they've got a lot of physicality, a lot of experience, a lot of height in their team. We have got to limit that.
"We know it's a different challenge.
"I think it is the perfect game to start our home league programme with."
Speaking at the press conference this week, Dyer told the media that he will use all the "attacking depth" of the squad to look to score goals and that he wanted to "score more goals" against Altrincham in their 3-1 win.
After just one game in the National League, Southend United have recorded a win, and Scunthorpe a draw.
