97 drivers caught speeding in Tendring as police respond to residents' concerns
They carried out speed checks in response to concerns across the district
Essex Police have carried out speed checks across the Tendring district, in response to concerns shared by residents.
97 drivers will be reported as a result of the checks, with the top speed recorded being 49mph.
In May, police community support officer Brandon undertook seven deployments in the villages of Alresford, Elmstead, Great Bentley and Thorrington, checking on hundreds of drivers.
The vast majority of drivers were travelling at safe and appropriate speeds.
PCSO Brandon says: “This is really encouraging to see and shows that many of you are helping to keep our roads safe for everyone.
“While there were a small number of higher speeds recorded, it’s positive that most drivers are doing the right thing. Please continue to drive with due care and attention so we can all help keep our communities safe.”
All the checks took place in 30mph zones. 97 drivers will be reported for process after being recorded travelling above the speed limit.
They will receive a fine, with the option of a court hearing or, where appropriate, the opportunity to complete a speed awareness course.
