Two more men jailed for violent disorder following 2025 protests

Two more men have been sentenced for violent disorder - bringing the total to 10 - following their ‘unacceptable’ behaviour at protests in Epping in 2025.
Jonathan Glover, 48, of Springfields in Waltham Abbey, and Charlie Land, 24, of Warren Close in Hatfield were found guilty by a jury of violent disorder following a 10-day trial at Chelmsford Crown court .
Land was also found guilty of criminal damage.
Footage from the scene showed Glover shouting at officers and impeding police carriers as they arrived in Epping on 17 July 2025, and drone and bodyworn footage showed Land repeatedly damaging police vehicles over the course of the evening.
At the same court on 19 August, Glover was sentenced to 30 months in prison and Land was sentenced to 32 months in prison.
Keith Silk, 34, of Torrington Drive in Loughton, was found guilty at the same trial as Glover and Land. He is due to be sentenced for violent disorder and criminal damage on 10 November.
In total 11 men have been convicted for their roles and 10 sentenced, with immediate custodial sentences so far totalling more than 17 years
Chief Inspector Terry Fisher, Epping Forest and Brentwood district commander, said:
“Each of these sentences is a reminder of the impact of this disorder – the community in Epping was left scared and anxious, daily life was disrupted and businesses felt the effect of closing early, with the town’s reputation affected.
“Whilst many people who wanted their voices to be heard on an important issue did that safely, a number chose to behave well beyond that and these convictions and sentences show that behaviour is and was entirely unacceptable.”
