30th anniversary edition of football anthem 'Three Lions' to be released next month

It was way back in 1996, when Baddiel, Skinner & Lightning Seeds first released 'Three Lions (Football's Coming Home)', the football anthem that supported the England team all the way to the semi finals of Euro 96, played against Germany at Wembley.

Now 30 years on, in 2026, Baddiel, Skinner & Lightning Seeds have announced they'll be releasing a 30th anniversary edition of the song which will be accompanied by new mixes and some new illustrated artwork by Guardian cartoonist David Squires, with the vinyl edition.

'Three Lions (Football's Coming Home)' is the only song to have ever gone to Number 1 four times with the same artist. It originally went to Number 1 back in 1996, twice when it was first released. The song then spent time at Number 1 during the 1998 World Cup and again in 2018.

When will it be released?

The 30th anniversary edition will be released on Friday 12th June 2026, ahead of England's first World Cup game on 17th June.

What formats is it available on?

A description for the new release reads: 'The special 30th Anniversary edition features brand new illustrated artwork by Guardian cartoonist David Squires, with the vinyl including Three Lions (Remastered), Three Lions (Karaoke) and the CD single with an additional two tracks: Three Lions (Jules Rimet Extended Mix), Three Lions (Sake Bar Remix).'
