Lindsey Buckingham strongly hints at reunion with Stevie Nicks in 2026
Fingers crossed!
Lindsey Buckingham has dropped a strong hint that he could rekindle his creative relationship with Stevie Nicks in 2026.
Back in April 2018, Fleetwood Mac announced the sacking of Lindsey Buckingham and unveiled his two replacements, Crowded House’s Neil Finn and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers' Mike Campbell.
Lindsey claimed in multiple interviews that Stevie got him fired from Fleetwood Mac and he even slapped his former band mates with a $12million lawsuit that was eventually settled out of court.
Stevie strongly refuted Lindsey's version of events, saying in a strongly worded 2021 statement: “To be exceedingly clear, I did not have (Buckingham) fired, I did not ask for him to be fired, I did not demand he be fired. Frankly, I fired myself. I proactively removed myself from the band and a situation I considered to be toxic to my wellbeing. I was done. If the band went on without me, so be it.”
In a 2024 interview with Rolling Stone, Stevie Nicks revealed that she spoke with Lindsey Buckingham for the first time in five years at Christine McVie’s memorial service in Florida in January 2023.
The acrimony dissipated further in 2025 when the pair reissued their eponymous collaborative album ‘Buckingham Nicks’ and had conversations about the release.
In a new interview shared to his Instagram account, Lindsey Buckingham details the things he’s still looking forward to this year.
After listing his new solo album and an upcoming Fleetwood Mac documentary film, Lindsey cryptically spoke about working with Stevie Nicks again.
“But I think on a more general level, just the energy of what Buckingham Nicks did to sort of create a resurgence of connection between Stevie and myself, I think on a larger scale that seems to be something that’s in the air,” Lindsey commented.
“And what that translates to specifically, I wouldn’t want to speculate yet, but I believe with all my heart it will translate to something good and something wonderful and something needed and something extremely appropriate.”
Fingers crossed we hear something soon.
