To mark what would have been David Bowie’s 80th birthday on 8th January, a series of special Bowie80 celebrations will take place throughout 2027.

The year-long Bowie80 festivities will include special events, releases, concerts, collaborations and fan experiences, and exclusive announcements will be made at the newly launched bowie80.davidbowie.com website.

One of the standout events is BOWIE (breaking) GLASS, a new live symphonic concert production, developed by Schirmer Theatrical together with Østre Gasværk Teater, bringing David Bowie’s iconic songs and voice into a bold new musical and visual dialogue with Philip Glass.

Featuring Bowie’s original recordings alongside live vocalists, musicians and orchestra, this official concert experience will have its world premiere in Copenhagen in spring 2027.

The critically lauded David Bowie: You’re Not Alone show, which launched at London Lightroom this year, will also go on tour in 2027, visiting Manchester, Brighton, Hamburg and more European cities to be announced.

The V&A’s David Bowie: On Tour will see artefacts from Bowie’s 90,000-item archive touring the UK starting in Dundee before moving on to Blackpool in 2027, before visiting further venues in 2028 and 2029.

Elsewhere, Morrison Hotel Gallery will launch Strange Fascination, a major photography exhibition celebrating the artistry, evolution and fearless reinvention of David Bowie, in New York City and West Hollywood in February 2027.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame museum in Cleveland, Ohio is also planning a Bowie80 celebration anchored by a dedicated retail pop-up running mid-November through to January. It will also host an exhibition on Bowie’s birthday weekend.

Kicking off the Bowie80 celebrations is an exclusive partnership with US-based premium department store Nordstrom, celebrating Bowie's enduring influence on fashion through three immersive shops in their Seattle, NYC, and Chicago flagships, and Nordstrom.com.

After a glittering five-decade career revolutionising music and popular culture, David Bowie died aged 69 on 10th January 2016 following an 18-month battle with cancer.
