Police hunt man after 15-year-old girl sexually assaulted on Edinburgh train

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on a train from Edinburgh to Aberdeen.

The incident happened between 9pm and 9.30pm on Sunday, 24 August, on a service that left Edinburgh Waverley.

Officers say the girl was attacked by a man in his 40s. Several passengers noticed she was distressed and stepped in to help. The man was then removed from the train at Inverkeithing.

He is described as white, in his 40s or 50s, around 5ft 10in tall, with short dirty blond hair. He was wearing a pink shirt and beige shorts.

British Transport Police are keen to trace the passengers who intervened, as they may have information to assist the investigation.
