Edinburgh Airport access delays due to crash on A8
Road is closed in both directions with drivers urged to follow diversion

The road to Edinburgh Airport has been closed in both directions following a “serious” crash this morning.
Police Scotland said the A8 is closed at Newbridge after a crash was reported at around 9.25am.
In an update at around 10am, Traffic Scotland said the road is closed in both directions between Newbridge roundabout and Gogar due to a road traffic collision.
Traffic for the airport has been advised to use another route, taking the M8 onto the bypass and up to Gogar.
Emergency services remain in attendance and diversions are being put in place.
Posting about the crash on X, Edinburgh Airport said “delays getting to the airport are expected”.
“We’re working closely with the emergency services and relevant partners to manage access to the airport following this incident,” a spokesman for Edinburgh Airport said.
“Passengers should allow additional time to reach the airport and consider alternative routes or modes of transport where possible. Anyone concerned about their travel plans should contact their airline directly for the latest advice.
The Scottish Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
“We appreciate the disruption this will cause and will continue to work with Police Scotland and other partners throughout the day.”
