Witnesses sought following fatal collision near Belton

Police urge those with information to come forward

Police are seeking information after a road traffic incident resulted in the death of a 66-year-old man.

The collision occurred at approximately 11.15am on Thursday, 23rd April, on High Street (A161), near the village of Belton.

A blue Vauxhall Meriva travelling northbound left the carriageway and collided with a tree.

Emergency services attended the scene, and the driver was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Despite the efforts of medical professionals, the man died in the early hours of Friday, 24th April 2026.

Officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the event or possess dashcam footage that could aid their enquiries to come forward.
