Man arrested after reports of car vandalism in Withernsea

Police appeal for witnesses and further victims to come forward

A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with multiple reports of car vandalism and theft in Withernsea Town Centre and nearby areas.

The incidents, which occurred between Sunday, 3rd May and Tuesday, 5th May 2026, involved car windows being smashed, vehicles being searched messily, and personal property reportedly being stolen.

After various enquiries, the man was arrested on Wednesday, 6th May 2026, on suspicion of five thefts from a motor vehicle, three offences of criminal damage, and two offences of vehicle interference. He has since been released on conditional bail while further investigations continue.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that could assist their ongoing enquiries to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.

Local officers are also encouraging any additional victims to come forward and speak to them when they are patrolling in the area.
