Willie Peters confident Hull KR will step up for crunch clash against Leeds
Hull KR gained victory, while there was defeat for Hull FC

Willie Peters admitted his Hull KR side must improve to stand any chance of toppling Betfred Super League leaders Leeds next week after watching them carve out an error-strewn 22-8 win over Leigh at Sewell Group Craven Park.
Swift second-half tries from Jai Whitbread and Bill Leyland effectively put the game to bed by the hour mark, but the hosts were distinctly below par and were effectively handed the points by opponents who were even further off the pace.
“I thought we started well and were dominating, but then we made life tough for ourselves,” said Peters. “There were lots of errors and that put a lot of pressure on our defence. Both teams are a lot better than what they produced tonight.”
Early tries from Joe Burgess and Peta Hiku helped Rovers chisel out an underwhelming 10-4 half-time lead before the hosts eased away to victory, but Peters knows the extent of the challenge posed by their trip to Headingley next Friday.
“We’ve got to improve a lot and I’m confident that we will,” added Peters. “At the end of the day it was a performance that wasn’t great, but we still found a way to win and I think that’s a pretty good sign.
“Next week is a step up in terms of where Leeds are at the moment, but I’m confident we will be able to step up.”
Meanwhile Hull FC were defeated, they lost 10-36 to Wakefield Trinity.
