Rebecca, a resident of Lincolnshire, is embracing a fundraising challenge to complete '60 Miles in May' in support of Jerry Green Dog Rescue, a charity dedicated to finding loving homes for rescue dogs.

Despite primarily using her manual wheelchair, Rebecca is determined to reach her goal as the challenge nears its final stretch, being already over halfway through.

Jerry Green Dog Rescue has designed this initiative to be accessible to all, encouraging participants to complete the miles in various ways, including running, walking, swimming, climbing, cycling, or wheeling.

Every mile contributes to providing a second chance for dogs in need.

Reflecting on her experience, Rebecca said, "It's been a great experience so far. I won't lie, there have been some hard days where the aches and pains have limited what I can get done. However, reading everyone's comments in the challenge Facebook group on their journeys to the 60 miles has really kept me motivated to push through and get the miles in."

She added, "My husband has kept me company, along with our own Jerry Green dog, Toffee. My mum has been my own personal cheerleader as well, and together they have kept my spirits high as I've wheeled myself to the next milestone."

Her dog, Toffee, was born at Jerry Green Dog Rescue after Rebecca's efforts, along with other community supporters, ensured his mother, Enid, had a safe place to give birth.

Looking forward to the completion of her challenge, Rebecca expressed, "I have a feeling when I hit the 60 miles, I will be a blubbering wreck from being proud that I've accomplished something I haven't been able to do since I had my operation in 2019. The wheelchair has given me the freedom to complete this challenge, as years ago, I would have walked 60 miles or more to raise the money for such a worthy cause."

Rebecca’s journey exemplifies the community spirit behind '60 Miles in May,' characterised by support from fellow participants, family, and friends.

Lily Finlay, Volunteering and Community Fundraising Manager at Jerry Green Dog Rescue, acknowledged the dedication: "Rebecca’s determination has been incredible to see, and her story captures exactly what '60 Miles in May' is all about. The challenge was created so supporters could move their way, while raising vital funds for rescue dogs."

With the month-end approaching, Jerry Green Dog Rescue encourages public support for fundraisers like Rebecca by donating to the '60 Miles in May' campaign during its final phase.
