Two men have been arrested after police responded to a report involving a suspected BB gun at a pub on Marfleet Lane, Hull.

The incident occurred around 7pm on 5th March when the men allegedly entered the pub and engaged in a verbal confrontation with staff.

One of the men is reported to have brandished what was believed to be a BB gun during the dispute.

They then reportedly left the premises, damaging a glass door on their way out.

An altercation ensued when a member of the public challenged the pair about the damage, resulting in the 60-year-old man sustaining serious injuries to his ribs and a 68-year-old man injuring his finger.

Detective Inspector Ben Harmer commented on the incident and reassured the community.

He said, “I understand reports of this nature are concerning for the local community, however I would like to offer my reassurance that upon immediate deployment, officers located two men and recovered what is believed to be a BB gun.”

Two 19-year-old men were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm without a certificate, causing grievous bodily harm, attempted robbery, and criminal damage.

Both are currently held in police custody as the investigation continues.

The police have urged anyone with information related to the incident who has not yet spoken to them to contact the non-emergency number 101, quoting log 422 of 5 March.
