Six detained after stolen car pursuit in Grimsby
Vehicle abandoned in chase as police make multiple arrests
Police in Grimsby have arrested six people after responding to reports of suspicious behaviour involving teenagers and a suspected stolen vehicle on Sunday, 12th July 2026.
The group was initially spotted on Kingsley Grove, Grimsby, around 4.45pm, exiting a vehicle reported stolen from Second Avenue the previous day.
Officers were promptly dispatched to locate the vehicle and its occupants.
A subsequent call reported the group re-entering the car and driving off, with dangerous motoring observed on the A16 Peaks Parkway, including driving on the wrong side of the road.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the reckless driving.
After failing to stop for police, the vehicle was abandoned on St Michael’s Road, leading to the occupants fleeing and attempting to evade capture by garden hopping.
Two individuals were apprehended in an alleyway near Newbury Grove, where a 21-year-old man and 19-year-old man were arrested for suspected vehicle theft and failure to stop for officers.
A 14-year-old was also arrested nearby on similar charges, as well as for going equipped for theft and possession of class B drugs—following a search that revealed the suspected drugs.
The search of the abandoned vehicle uncovered multiple pairs of latex gloves.
In total, an 18-year-old man, a 16-year-old boy, and a 12-year-old boy were also taken into custody in connection with the ongoing investigation.
All six suspects remain in police custody, assisting with inquiries.
