Police seek information after serious assault in Hull

72-year-old man hospitalised following altercation as teenager is arrested

Police are appealing for information after a serious assault in Hull resulted in the hospitalisation of a 72-year-old man.

The incident occurred outside a property on De La Pole Avenue on Wednesday, 29th April 2026.

Detective Inspector Lloyd Sharkett stated that the assault followed a verbal altercation, and emergency services were deployed just after 9:20pm.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested nearby on suspicion of assault, criminal damage, grievous bodily harm, and assault by beating.

He remains in custody as the investigation continues.

Detective Inspector Sharkett emphasised the importance of determining the movements of those involved and urged anyone with information to come forward.

Officers are appealing for anyone with CCTV, Ring doorbell, or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident to assist in the investigation.
