Scunthorpe United sack Andy Butler as manager after two years
It comes after the Iron suffered ten separate losses during their League campaign
Scunthorpe United manager Andy Butler has been sacked from his position, the club has confirmed.
The club said the decision followed a meeting of its Board of Directors, which confirmed he had been "relieved of his duties".
The Iron team were beaten 4-1 at Tamworth on Tuesday evening (October 27th), with the team now losing six games of its past seven in the National League.
The team has suffered some ten different defeats over their National League campaign and need five points in order to avoid being demoted.
Butler's time in charge
Andy Butler took charge in May 2024. The club said he led the team to promotion from National League North via the play-offs in his first full campaign.
It said he then guided them to a fifth-placed finish in the National League last season. The club said they narrowly missed out on back-to-back promotions after being edged out at the semi-final stage.
Butler took charge of 127 games and won 62, the club said, giving him a win rate of just under 50%.
Playing career
Butler came through the club's academy system as a defender. He made 174 appearances in all competitions across three spells, scoring 15 goals.
He returned as first team coach in his final spell, before becoming manager the following season.

The club thanked Butler for what it described as his fantastic commitment, work rate and dedication throughout his time at Scunthorpe United.
It said it knows he gave his all. The club said it wholeheartedly wishes him the very best for the future and looks forward to watching him continue to grow in the game wherever it takes him next.
