A man from Scunthorpe has been charged with theft following two separate reports of shop theft on the town's High Street earlier this month.

Ray Parkes, a 49-year-old resident of Shelford Street, was charged with three counts of theft from a shop connected to incidents occurring on Saturday, 8th August and Monday, 10th August.

Scunthorpe Town Centre Neighbourhood Beat Officers arrested Parkes yesterday, 19th August, after he allegedly entered a shop twice and left without making payment.

Following his arrest, Parkes was remanded in custody.

He is expected to appear at Grimsby Magistrates Court today, 20th August 2026.

The legal proceedings will address the charges stemming from his alleged involvement in the shop thefts.
