A serial rapist, formerly from Scunthorpe, who raped a boy and girl over a number of years has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

45-year-old Robert McLurey was found guilty of nine counts of rape and one count of attempted rape.

He's now been sentenced to life with a minimum term of nine years and four months, handed a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and will be on Sex Offenders Register for life.

Sergeant Sarah Kelleher-Young, who led the investigation, said detectives worked over a number of years and conducted thousands of enquiries to ensure McLurey was charged.

“I would like to commend the bravery shown by both the man and woman for coming forward and reporting the horrendous and violent crimes they lived through as children at the hands of McLurey, and for the support from both of them whilst we were building a case against him", she said.
