Police drone pilots were deployed in Hull after a driver failed to stop for officers.

The incident happened on Tuesday, 12 May, when officers on the ground were assisted by in-house drone pilots as they responded to the fail-to-stop incident.

The vehicle was later found abandoned.

Drone teams were also used to help search the area for a wanted man in connection with a robbery.

He was located and arrested on suspicion of robbery and burglary dwelling with intent to steal.

Police say their in-house drone pilots support operational policing on a daily basis, helping officers respond more quickly and effectively to incidents as they unfold.

The drones can be used in a range of situations, including searching for high-risk missing people, tracking offenders fleeing scenes of crime, and assisting with fail-to-stop incidents.

They are fitted with built-in AI technology and pinpoint laser range finders, which can help guide officers to people and locations of interest.

Police say the technology improves situational awareness for officers attending incidents, helping them better understand what is happening at an earlier stage.

It can also help improve officer safety, minimise risk, and support public safety by ensuring the right resources are deployed at the right time, including other emergency services where needed.

The force says drones can also play an important role in the criminal justice process by capturing key evidence.

That can include offences being committed, offenders being detained, and the management of scenes, helping to support investigations and present evidence in court.
