Murder investigation launched following fatal reported assault in Hull

A murder investigation has been launched after a man died following a reported assault in Queen Victoria Square, Hull.

53-year-old Martin Chadburn was taken to hospital with a life-threatening head injury after the incident in the early hours of Sunday 19th April.

He passed away this morning (21st April).

Five people who were previously arrested have now been arrested on suspicion of murder.

They include three women aged 20, 20 and 21, and two men aged 27 and 34.

They're all currently in police custody.

A 47-year-old woman who was previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder remains on bail.

An investigation is ongoing.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Leanne Murphy said:

“We know the concern this will cause across the community, I would like to thank members of the public for their help, and those who have come forward and assisted us with our enquiries so far.

“An increased police presence can be expected in the area, and I would encourage anyone with any concerns to come and speak to them.

“If anyone has any information, no matter how small, which could be the vital piece of information we need to further our investigation then I would urge them to come forward.

“This includes anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident, or has CCTV, mobile phone, or dashcam footage that may assist with our enquiries, to please contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 100 of 19 April.”
