Hull man jailed for dangerous driving that injured elderly couple and dog
He collided head-on with their car in Tickton
A man who crashed into an elderly couple in Tickton and left their dog needing urgent treatment has been sentenced to over six years in prison.
Hull Crown Court heard how 45-year-old Mohammed Ali, of Hessle Road, Hull, collided head-on with a car on the A1035 near Hull Bridge on 13 February 2025.
He was attempting a dangerous overtake on a country road.
Inside the car he collided with was a 69-year-old man, a 69-year-old woman and their dog.
The couple were hospitalised with life-threatening injuries, whilst the dog was rushed to the vets.
Ali failed a roadside drug test, was found with class B drugs and was driving without insurance or a licence.
Since the collision, the victims have undergone numerous surgeries and are still continuing with rehabilitation.
The dog spent a number of days at the vets but has since recovered.
Ali was sentenced to six-years-and-11-months in prison and given a ten year driving ban after pleading guilty to:
- two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving
- driving over the specified drug limit
- driving without a licence
- driving without valid insurance
- possession of a Class B drug
